Educational activities

The curriculum is designed for four groups: undergraduate students, specialized assistants, and Oral and Maxillofacial pain fellowship and oral biology fellowship.

For undergraduate students, theoretical units are presented in the fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth and eleventh semesters and practical units in the seventh, eighth and eleventh semesters.

A horizontal integrated multidisciplinary clinical course is diagnosis and treatment of TMDs which is held in Prosthodontics department with the collaboration of the faculty members from OMF Surgery, and this departments.

The curriculum for the postgraduate course is planned in six semesters and at least three years. Foreign postgraduate students are also accepted in this section. In this department, case presentation classes are held weekly.

 

Research activities

The research activities of the group are aimed on improving the research skills of faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the form of the following functions:

  • Weekly journal clubs
  • Participation of the members in training courses about writing articles and research methodology
  • Designing, registration and implementation of research projects in line with the research priorities of the group
  • Preparation of scientific articles and its publication in reputable national and international journals
  • Designing and implementation of general and specialized theses
  • Active participation and collaboration with reputable national and international publications
  • Participation in national and international congresses
  • Collaborate with other faculty departments and other research centers
  • Research activities in education to improve educational status

Treatment activities

Providing health care for patients by undergraduate students and postgraduate students under direct

supervision of faculty members in the following sub-groups:

  • Full examination of oral and maxillofacial region
  • Control of vital signs of patients
  • Referring to other departments
  • Non-surgical treatment of soft tissue lesions
  • Non-surgical treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pains
  • Biopsy of oral lesions
  • Surgery limited to soft tissue
