Department of Restorative Dentistry

The Department of Restorative Dentistry at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is dedicated to providing exceptional education and training to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental caries and restorative procedures. Our mission is to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to preserve tooth structure and maintain optimal oral health through minimally invasive, evidence-based practices.

Vision

Our vision is to become a leader in restorative dental education, fostering innovation and excellence in conservative dentistry. We prioritize the integration of the latest digital technologies, biomimetic principles, and interdisciplinary collaboration in patient-centered care. By focusing on tooth preservation over extraction and aggressive treatments, we aim to shape the future of restorative dentistry with minimally invasive and esthetically-driven solutions that improve oral health outcomes.

Missions

Our mission is to focus on caries prevention strategies, including dietary modifications, fluoride therapy, and fissure sealants, while ensuring proficiency in restorative procedures using a variety of materials such as amalgam, composite, glass ionomer, and advanced adhesive techniques. Postgraduate students further hone their expertise in more complex restorative cases, including indirect restorations, fixed prosthodontics, implant dentistry, and digital dentistry, allowing for comprehensive and conservative patient care.
