History of Restorative Dentistry Department in Tehran University of Medical Sciences

In 1939, the school of dentistry was established subsidiary to the school of medicine offered a four year course teaching theoretical and practical units such as “practical dentistry and maintenance of teeth” which was taught by Dr. Heydar Sarkhosh at that time. The “practical dentistry and maintenance of teeth” unit consisted of which is called Restorative dentistry and Endodontic departments, currently. The aim was collaboration between these two programs to provide educational affairs for students and devoted services to the referrals till 1966. Later on, these two programs were divided as individual departments.
