Department of Orthodontics

Established in 1946, the Department of Orthodontics at TUMS School of Dentistry has a legacy of pioneering education, research, and clinical excellence in Iran. That same year, Dr. Hassan Riazi introduced orthodontic education to the Faculty of Dentistry, marking the beginning of specialized orthodontic training in the country. The first orthodontic clinic was founded within the faculty and became an independent department in 1950. In 1975, the department launched Iran’s first postgraduate orthodontic residency program, which continues to train exceptional specialists today, admitting 3-4 postgraduate students annually.

As one of the earliest orthodontic departments in Iran, we have continually evolved to meet the growing demands of modern orthodontics. Our commitment extends beyond education to include cutting-edge research, high-quality patient care, and leadership in orthodontic advancements. Through rigorous academic programs and hands-on clinical training, we empower our students to enhance both function and aesthetics in patient care.
