Educational activities

The curriculum is designed for two groups: undergraduate and postgraduate students.

For undergraduate, theoretical units are presented in the sixth, eighth and ninth semesters and practical units in the seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh semesters.

In addition, students should attend a multidisciplinary integrated clinical course over two semesters in their senior year, in which they are given patients and are responsible for all dental treatments required for each patient. This course is held in a separate multidisciplinary clinic with faculty members from Restorative dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Community Oral Health departments.

The curriculum for the postgraduate course is planned in six semesters and at least three years. Also, foreign postgraduate students are accepted in this section.

 

Research activities

The research activities of the group are aimed at improving the research skills of faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the form of the following functions:

  • Participation of the members in training courses about scientific writing and research methodology
  • Adjustment, registration and implementation of research projects in line with the research priorities of the group
  • Preparation of scientific articles and its publication in reputable national and international journals
  • Design and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate thesis
  • Active participation as editorial and reviewers in the journal of dentistry of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and other national and international journals
  • Participation in national and international congresses
  • Collaboration with other faculty departments and other research centers
  • Research activities in education to improve educational status
  • Holding journal clubs

 

Treatment activities

Providing health care to patients by undergraduate and postgraduate students under direct supervision of faculty members in the following sub-groups:

  • Root canal treatment of teeth
  • Root canal treatment of complex cases
  • Remedies of root canals
  • Root canal treatment for patients with certain systemic diseases
  • Root canal treatment for patients with infectious diseases (AIDS and hepatitis)
  • Endodontic Surgery
  • Treatment of traumatic teeth
  • Treatment of endodontic-periodontic cases
  • Internal bleaching
  • Forced eruption
  • Apexogenesis and apexification
  • Regenerative endodontic treatments
